Skip Haynes' love affair with music began at a very early age. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a graduate of Withrow High school, Skip was a two-time winner on the Original Ted Mack Amateur Hour, a row leader with the Withrow High School Marching Band, and a soloist with the Withrow Minstrels. He also attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Skip sings and plays saxophone, clarinet and flute. He has extensive musical experience which includes numerous engagements in nightclubs and restaurants throughout the Eastern United States. He has performed with both the Cincinnati Symphony and the Woody Herman Band and he conducted the backup band for Pat Boone's TV Dance Party.
His experience as an entertainer has been as varied as the many styles of music he performs. As a vocalist, he has been influenced by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdink, Rod Stewart, Elton John, George Benson and Mick Jagger. As a saxophonist his influences include Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Gato Barbieri and Freddy Martin.
Currently, Skip is principally a solo performer, and as such, he provides his own lighting and sound systems. In addition, he can also provide entertainment in the form of The Skip Haynes Band, which consists of a five to nine piece band, including a female singer.
