The Black Tie Band consists of the leader, Skip Haynes, who has extensive musical experience including a stint as the backup band for Pat Boone´s TV Dance Party (1956) and solo performances with the Woody Herman Band (1959). Skip is proficient on soprano, alto and tenor saxophones, clarinet, and flute. He also provides vocals.
The Band also features female vocalist, Sylvia Shaw. In addition to her song stylings, Sylvia also adds fun and depth to performances with her bongos, maracas, claves and other percussion "toys".
In additon to Skip and Sylvia, the band also has a keyboard player and a drummer. Together, the four piece band has provided music and entertainment for many area private and public clubs, dances, weddings and parties for more than fifteen years. The Band repertoire spans the gamut of standards, Latin, Dixieland, light jazz and easy rock. Our aim is to tailor each performance to suit the individual audience.
